I grew up in Blaye, just across the estuary from Bordeaux and in front of Médoc, where good wine was part of every meal and every gathering. At twenty-five I moved to the United States, where I have now lived for more than twenty years and built a career in Health IT for state and federal government. I know both worlds: the vineyards of home and the American table they are headed for.

As far as I know, I am the only woman importer in Maryland who was born in Bordeaux, and I treat that as both a point of pride and a responsibility. Watching the small family vineyards back home struggle to reach America, I started Haas Imports to bring their honest, sustainably farmed wines to your table.

A FAMILY AFFAIR

I do not do this alone. My father, Alix, a retired nuclear engineer and a lifelong, devoted wine taster, is my partner from the Bordeaux side, and his palate is the one I grew up trusting. Together we walk the estates, taste, and choose every wine by hand, favoring small, multi-generational growers who farm with care.

What you find under Marion’s Selection is the result of those afternoons: father and daughter, agreeing on a bottle worth sharing.
