The Story

Château Grand-Jauga is a historic Barsac estate, recorded as a cru as far back as 1943. The Lamothe family of Château Haut-Bergeron, who had tended these vines for decades, bought it in 1987. The plots sit on the prized Haut-Barsac terroir, some neighboring the legendary Château Climens, where clay and limestone soils over hard rock give Sauternes that are elegant and fresh. Each year the grapes are hand-picked in several passes, choosing only those touched by noble rot, the painstaking work behind every great Sauternes.
