Tasting Notes

Fleshy and supple, with vivid minerality. Notes of lemon zest and grapefruit lead to a fresh, faintly saline finish. Time in barrel lends gentle texture without weighing the wine down, so it stays bright and clean. An open invitation to shellfish.

PAIR WITH

Oysters and shellfish

Grilled white fish

Charcuterie and seafood starters

As an apéritif, well chilled

The Story

Le Clos des Pins is the dry counterpart to La Fleur des Pins, from the same Lamothe family of Château Haut-Bergeron, grown on their Graves vines at Pujols-sur-Ciron. Fermented and aged in oak with the lees stirred twice a week, it gains a supple, textured body while holding on to the saline freshness of its terroir. Like its sibling, it is at its best young, when the citrus and minerality are most alive.

Quote from Alix

From a fine Graves terroir, close to the Pessac-Léognan appellation, this wine marries Sauvignon Blanc, with its delicately tangy aromas, to Sémillon, which fills out the structure and brings richness. A gentle acidity reveals a beautifully balanced whole.
